WEAR AND CARE

When you order from Layla's Locks, you will receive a high quality hair piece that will last you for years of use with the proper care. These are some tips for wear and care of your locks.

To Wear:

1. Hair falls are designed to be anchored to buns or ponytails. We recommend that you place your buns high on the head, close to the crown (figure 1a). Pairs of falls can be anchored close together on the head to create the look of one large think fall (figure 1b) or worn to the side as pigtails. Falls may pull on your scalp and cause irritation if the anchor point is placed too low.

2. Each custom base is created with two beads at each end. Stretch the elastic by the beads and place around the base of your bun or ponytail (figure 2a/ 2b). If one pass around leaves the fall feeling loose, stretch the elastic around the base again. The fall is secured by placing one bead around the other (figure 2c) which allows for quick and easy installation and removal.

3. Arrange your dreads to cover your bun with pins, hair sticks, head wraps or the dreads themselves (figure 3). This part is where your own creativity comes to life, and I've seen plenty of different ways to rock your locks. Of course there are as many ways to wear your falls as there are people who order them and we're always curious to see how you do it. Please send us pictures for the customer gallery and receive $5 store credit towards your next purchase. We maintain a list of these credits and just need to be reminded when you place your next order.

Storage:

The best way to store a fall is hanging. If this is not possible, the second best way to store it is in its original bag laying flat. This is a good way to travel with your fall as well. And of course be sure to keep it out of the reach of your animal companions.

Cleaning:

For cleaning, you can wash your fall with a gentle or diluted shampoo (wig shampoo is available), and hang it to dry. Make sure it dries completely before storing your fall in its bag again.

Maintenance:

As you wear your fall, your dreads will naturally become more nappy, and may have more flyaway hairs. Simply snip the flyaways from the main dread as it will not affect the structure of the overall dread. Your dreads may also come looser or untwisted with repeated wear. To refresh your dreads, you can retwist your locks and reseal with a hair dryer, or steam, but be sure to keep your heat source moving along the dread, especially with the hair dryer, or there is a chance your dread will become crispy and velcro-like.
